I noticed an observer submitting naked eye observations with airmass corrections for Betelgeuse. He is a professional astronomer with published research on this topic.

What about adjusting other visual observations for airmass? I suppose a reason against it might be the imprecision of visual observations, and chart comparison values which are rounded up or down. Betelgeuse's alert had comp stars with 0.01 precision and its airmass effects carefully studied, so perhaps it was warranted in this special case.

Could V band airmass calculations be useful when applied to other target and comp stars (as long as the observation has an explanatory comment)?
