Save the 2023 date for our 112th Annual Meeting in Somerville, MA, to again be held at The Row Hotel, Nov. 3 - 5, with TBD dates for extra activities.
About AAVSO Meetings The AAVSO usually organizes two meetings each year, one in the fall, and a joint meeting with another organization in the spring. Meetings are held in different locations each year to make it more accessible for members and observers from different places to attend. Anyone interested in the AAVSO and its activities is invited and encouraged to participate in our meetings. Each meeting includes presentations by both invited keynote speakers, and AAVSO members and observers whose presentation abstracts have been accepted for inclusion in the Meeting schedule. Presentation topics include variable star research and discoveries; astronomy education and diversity experiences, studies, and solutions; and variable star history. |

There is also a research poster hall, which takes places either in person and online, or online-only, depending on the Meeting venue. During lunches and coffee breaks, in person Meeting attendees catch up, exchange ideas about their observing, including new techniques, issues they have been experiencing, and solutions. The AAVSO executive director, board members, and JAAVSO editor-in-chief host a "Membership Meeting" that is broadcast online and open to public. They report on the activities of the AAVSO, financial standing, and new developments in the organization. The AAVSO strives to promote inclusion and diversity in our meetings. The following links can help us educate ourselves on issues of diversity and inclusion in conferences:
