Question on VSP star charts

Sat, 03/18/2017 - 23:23

I created some charts and it seems that I can not recreate them. When I put the Chart ID in and click create chart the search comes back as "the chart can not be found." Do the old charts expire over time?

Thanks!

Question on VSP star charts

Hi Preston,

Unless the chart you are trying to create is older than June 2015, you should be able to create it.

In order to troubleshoot this apparent problem, please send me a copy of the chart you wish to re-create. (You can attach it to a post on this form, or email it to me offline sara [at] aavso.org).

Many thanks, Sara

Hi Sara,

Hi Sara,

I was able to recreate the charts the following afternoon, very weird. I was submitting observations for the binocular pin and was just making sure I could read my own handwriting on the form and that the form had the right chart IDs on them. If I run into any problems again, I will let you know.

Thanks

Preston

Chart retrieval

Given that some of the older chart designations include lower-case letters, whereas all newer charts include only upper-case, I assume that VSP is case-sensitive when we enter a chart code.  I haven't tested that, but it might be an explanation.

Actually, VSP is not case-sensitive.

As far as I know, there is no problem retrieving charts using the chartID unless the chart you are trying to request is older than June 2015 when we changed something in the system. If you are using a chart older than that, you should probably replace it anyway since a lot of the sequences have been updated since then.

Clear skies,
Sara
