AAVSO ALERT NOTICE 162 (August 27, 1992)

MULTIWAVELENGTH OBSERVATIONS OF NOVA CYGNI 1992 [V1974 Cyg]

We have been informed through the MultiWaveLink network that multiwavelength observations of Nova Cygni 1992 will be carried out for three hours, starting at 3:20 UT on September 8, using the Hubble Space Telescope, International Ultraviolet Explorer, and ground-based instruments.

Please monitor this nova prior to, during, and after this observing time, using the 'd' scale chart distributed with AAVSO Alert Notice 157, and report your observations to AAVSO Headquarters.

VARIABLE STAR OBSERVATIONS FOR EUVE

I would like to extend sincere thanks and appreciation to all observers who have been participating in the observation of variable stars for the EUVE mission. We appreciate your enthusiastic response and telephone calls. Keep up the excellent work!

REMINDERS

Please continue to monitor the large-amplitude variable stars on the HIPPARCOS observing list, as well as SS Cyg, VW Hyi, U Gem, YY Dra, IP Peg, TT Crt, and T Pyx, as specified in AAVSO Alert Notice 161. Your observations are essential to the success of these projects.

The answering machine (800-642-3883 or 617-354-0484) is on nights and weekends for your convenience.

Many thanks for your valuable astronomical contributions.

Clear Skies!

Janet A. Mattei
Director
