The enigmatic possible YSO V1117 Herculis appears to have entered a rapid fade. Estimates by Gary Poyner and myself over the last few days put the star at magnitude 14.0 (visual) whereas a week before it was around its normal magnitude of 12½. Please follow this star!
Thanks to all who are contributing to the current behaviour of V1117 Her. Long runs, and in a variety of filters too! Looks possibly as if this could be the 'precursor' fade which sometimes occurs before a deeper one. If so, we need all eyes (and other receptors) on the object to see what happens next.
Interesting examining V1117 HER over its full history and then focusing in on this year. Unlike periods in the past, this year minima seem to be occurring increasingly close together. 6/10, 7/19, 8/11, 8/23, 8/27.
Does anyone have a good explanation of this?
