June 24, 2013: HST/COS is scheduled to observe the SU UMa-type dwarf nova CC Scl:
CC Scl 2013 June 27 02:12:04 through 05:39:30 UT
The HST team will be making a final decision early on June 26 about observing CC Scl based substantially on your observations, so they are essential.
Close monitoring of CC Scl through June 28 is requested. The most recent regular outburst of CC Scl recorded in the AAVSO International Database occurred in August 2012, when it reached magnitude 15.4V. The most recent superoutburst occurred in November 2011, when CC Scl reached 13.3V. It will be essential to know the brightness of CC Scl at all times in order to protect the HST equipment. CC Scl is V magnitude 17 at minimum and as bright as 13.4V at maximum.
After CC Scl, the next target in the campaign is the dwarf nova HS 2214+2845. It is preliminarily scheduled for 2013 July 15. HS 2214+2845 is 16.8V at minimum and 12.5V at maximum.
However, the VY Scl cataclysmic variable OR And is a target of opportunity for this campaign and, as it is now in its low state (see AAVSO Special Notice #359), Dr. Gaensicke and colleagues are working to schedule observations with HST/COS in July/August. There is a possibility it might be inserted into the schedule ahead of HS 2214+2845.
Giving CC Scl top priority, please monitor both of these upcoming campaign targets.

Please report observations as soon as possible to the AAVSO International Database using the name CC SCL, HS 2214+2845, and OR AND, respectively. If an outburst is detected, or if OR And returns to its high state of ~14.5-15.5V, please report observations immediately. Many thanks!
