Error Standards and Reporting on Time Series

Hi All;

I'm new to EB and have just run my first two time series on ST Tri. From the Time Series Analysis report, I see the error bars on the Target Magnitude Graph, which arequite small, but I also see Std numbers for the Target Magnitude of 0.258 which is pretty large. Is this 'Std' number considered to be the 'error' for the Target observations in a Time Series?  If this is the case, are there different standards for evaluating Time Series results versus the following which, I believe, apply to variable stars analysis in general:

error: < 0.015 - excellent

VPHOT - Image Upload Appears to have Failed

Hi

I just uploaded 30 images in a time series. The upload seemed to go fine and all image disappeared from the upload screen. But now, nearly an hour later, none of the images appears in my Image List. VPHOT indicates that there is not work in the Que so I's puzzled where my images went and whether I should be using the AIJ Macro for uploading and analyzing rather than VPHOT.

Suggestions and Advice would be helpful.

Thank you and Happy Holidays..

Gary

It is with profound sorrow that I announce the passing of Dr. Robert H. Nelson on November 2nd after a long term battle with

cancer.   He is survived by his wife Lois and three adult children.  Bob was a prolific investigator of eclipsing binary systems

for over 25 years, having published well over 100 papers on the subject.  He is probably best known for his database of

For those of you who are familiar with AstroImageJ (AIJ), a capability has been added to the latest daily build that allows the user to create a variable star report that conforms with the AAVSO International Database (AID) format for both single comparison stars, as well as for an ensemble of comparison stars. I want to thank Ken Menzies and others who have helped with the testing.

Question on ToM Errors

Hi All,

For practice, I have obtained BVRI photometry on CN And for a primary eclipse and a secondary eclipse.  I am writing a program to fit the photometry near the minima to a parabola to determine the ToMs.  I do this separately for all for bands.  I also compute the errors on the parabola parameters and can thus compute the error on the ToM. For the secondary I get:

B: 2459561.1043 +/- 0006  (HJD)

V: 2459561.1027 +/- 0.004  (HJD)

R: 2459561.1033 +/- 0.003  (HJD)

I:  2459561.1028 +/- 0.005  (HJD)

Hi All,

Just wanted to (re) introduce myself to this section of AAVSO.  My name is Anthony (Tony) Shoup.  I was a member of this section back around 1995-2005.  I rejoined AAVSO about 1 year ago.  I am currently working on my observing equipment/software/techniques as applied to differential photometry and (hopefully in the near future) radial velocities of EBs.  I plan to retire in about 3 years and devote most of my time then to EBs (to keep my wife sane :) ).

I really look forward to contributing to this section (maybe slowly at first).  Tony...
