Hello everybody.
My name is Eurimar, I'm Brazilian and I live in the interior of a city on the north coast of Ceará.
I've been observing variable stars for 3 years and I really like the eclipsing binary type, but I know little about observing them and how to do the process effectively.

That said, I would like to find some other observers who have experience in these stars to guide me and help me get into the world of EB's.

AAVSO Alert Notice 761 announces an observing campaign on the triple-component eclipsing system b Per, which has an eclipse in December 2021. Please see the notice for details and observing instructions.

There are threads for this campaign under the following forums:

A couple of suggestions (or three) and a query about this very useful list.  Firstly, the note seems to appear only on the AAVSO Web site front page:  what happens to it when it drops off the 'news'?  Second/third:  could items like this have a name attached, and a date, so one knows who to contact, and eventually know how stale the list has become?  Thanks.

About the VSX catalog. Good afternoon, dear friends.

I am new to the AAVSO community and I am starting a course completion survey (undergraduate in Physics) about new variables.

I am using a part of the VSX catalog, in which there are some suspicions of variability that can be observed in the southern hemisphere (In Brazil, more specifically).

I would like to know from you, is differential photometry a good choice to determine some variations of suspicious stars?

Delta Velorum - non-observed

I am a begginer variable star observer from the Southern Hemisphere (but with experience in astronomy) and, when I was looking for VS to observe, I saw that Del Vel has almost no observations. Thus, there is no graph for when the eclipses occur.

VSX data: mag range of 1.95 - 2.43 V, period  of 45.15 days and 1.3% (0.587 days) eclipse duration

It doesn't have data about how the magnitude varies in the visual spectrum, althought I know it is a bright star (already saw it at naked eye).

I am looking for an alternative to the Kwee van Woerden method that is more computationally up to date. A data-fitting model that has caught my eye is one that used to be on the web site of the Variable Star and Exoplanet Section of the Czech Astronomical Society. It uses a five-parameter function that is described in the paper "Minima Timing of Eclipsing Binaries," by Brat, Mikulasek, and Pejcha.

I'm reaching out to the AAVSO EB community in order to find someone who is experienced in using Binary Maker 3. I've recently purchased it and I'm having difficulty getting up and running. Are there any online tutorials? Any help is greatly appreciated.
