The end is in sight for the HST ULLYSES program (see earlier threads for details)! 49 of 58 targets have now been observed. Three are scheduled for the next 2 weeks (see below). 4 targets in the Lupus clouds are likely to be scheduled June 16-20, and the final (really!) 2 targets, in CrA, are likely to be scheduled in July.
As usual, it would be helpful to have BVRI photometry for these targets in order to help interpret the UV spectra. TESS will not be observing this region.
The targets are:
Sz 117:
16 09 44.361 -39 13 30.17 (J2000) V=14.59
Start time: 30 May 2022 06:52:06 End time: 30 May 2022 17:11:42
Sz 99:
16 08 24.042 -39 05 49.43 (J2000) V=16.0
Start time: 03 Jun 2022 04:30:24 End time: 03 Jun 2022 14:48:43
Sz 115:
16 09 06.214 -39 08 51.87 (J2000) V=15.48
Start time: 04 Jun 2022 04:18:47 End time: 04 Jun 2022 13:06:38
Start time: 05 Jun 2022 04:07:07 End time: 05 Jun 2022 08:20:37
None of these targets appear to be in VSX.
Please add these targets to your observing lists, and observe at lest nightly through May 30 (Sz 117), June 3 (Sz 99), or June 5 (Sz 115).
In an unusual occurrence, the scheduling is such that these targets can be observed simultaneously from the western hemisphere and from Australia, at least for parts of the HST observations. As usual the hope is to amass a sufficient number of points that we can identify any brightenings and fadings related to the accretion processes, to aid in the interpretation of the HST spectra.
I'll update this with the last 6 targets as the schedules firm up.
Thank you for all the contributions you have made to this program to date.
Hi
Is some from AAVSO HQ able to enter these stars into VSX to allow observations to be submitted to the AID?
Regards
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
I'm adding the target stars to VSX.
Good observing,
Elizabeth
The three targets have been submitted to VSX:
Sz 117 THA 15-37 2MASS J16094434-3913301
Sz 99 THA 15-25 2MASS J16082404-3905494
Sz 115 2MASS J16090621-3908518
I am making a request to the AAVSO Sequence Team for these targets.
Good observing,
Elizabeth
I have added two of the three targets and will look for previous observations of the field for the third target.
Regards,
Josch
We how have firm HST observing times for the last 4 ULYSSES/ODYSSEUS pre-main sequence star targets in Lupus. They are

If you can pull yourselves away from U Sco, it would be helpful to have BVRI photometry for these targets in order to help interpret the UV spectra from the HST. TESS will not be observing this region.
Please add these targets to your observing lists, and observe at least nightly through the HST end times. The scheduled times are fortuitous for simultaneous HST and ground observations from the western hemisphere.
Thank you for all the contributions you have made to this program to date.
I already have some observations of these stars but need them to be added to the VSX in order for them to be submitted.
AAVSO Alert Notice 780 reports on the 4 YSO targets being observed with HST this week and needing coverage NOW. Please see the notice for details and observing instructions.
All targets have been added to VSX and AAVSO comparison stars are available.

Happy solstice.
We how have firm HST observing times for the 2 ULLYSES/ODYSSEUS pre-main sequence star targets in the Corona Australis star forming region. They are
RXJ1842.9-3532 (WRAY 15-1880)
18 42 57.981 -35 32 42.83 (J2000) V=11.77
Start time: 23 Jun 2022 15:19:14 End time: 23 Jun 2022 21:14:30 (UT)
RXJ1852.3-3700 (IRAS 18489-3703)
18 52 17.301 -37 00 11.95 (J2000) V=12.19
Start time: 02 Jul 2022 13:37:24 End time: 03 Jul 2022 00:01:09 (UT)
Start time: 03 Jul 2022 19:46:49 End time: 03 Jul 2022 22:14:23 (UT)
If you can pull yourselves away from U Sco, it would be helpful to have BVRI photometry for these targets in order to help interpret the UV spectra from the HST. TESS will not be observing this region.
Please add these targets to your observing lists, and observe at least nightly through the HST end times. Note that the two HST observations of RXJ1852.3-3700 will be separated by about a day. It would be particular;y useful to have observations during this interval because small changes in the optical can have have large effects in the UV.
The HST observation of Sz 114 in late May failed, and will be rescheduled in July. This will be the last of the snapshot targets in the HST/ULLYSES/ODYSSEUS program.
Thank you for all the contributions you have made to this program to date.
Hello fwalter, I will be able to contribute with observations of these two stars. Should observations be sent to the AAVSO using these names? I ask because they do not appear in the database.
I created a comparison chart for RXJ1852.3-3700, with no comparison stars. It would be interesting to create a sequence so that we can submit the observations.
Hi Marco,
Please see my post below about these new targets - they are being added to VSX, and then a sequence will be made, and charts showing the comparison stars will be able to be made using VSP. Please don't select your own comparison stars if you are going to submit your observations to the AAVSO database.
Thanks, and good observing,
Elizabeth
Hi Marco,
These targets are being added to VSX. Please hold on to your observations until they are in there and you can see the primary VSX name (that is the best name to use for your observations). You also need to wait to submit your observations until comparison stars are selected by the AAVSO Sequence Team. They can do that once the stars are in VSX. Then you will be able to create a chart showing appropriate comparison stars, reduce your observations, and submit them to the AAVSO International Database.
I will post to this thread when the stars are in VSX and comparison stars are available.
Thanks for wanting to observe Dr. Walter's targets for this campaign!
Good observing,
Elizabeth Waagen, AAVSO HQ
Thank you so…
Hi Elizabeth.
Thank you so much.
I will wait for the charts and comparison stars to submit the observations.
Both targets are in VSX and have comparison stars (thank you, AAVSO Sequence Team members Mike Poxon and Chuck Cynamon).
Being observed by HST TODAY is RX J1842.9-3532 (WRAY 15-1880) (Sgr)
Start time: 23 Jun 2022 15:19:14 End time: 23 Jun 2022 21:14:30 (UT)
Being observed July 2 and 3 is RX J1852.3-3700 (IRAS 18489-3703) (CrA)
Start time: 02 Jul 2022 13:37:24 End time: 03 Jul 2022 00:01:09 (UT)
Start time: 03 Jul 2022 19:46:49 End time: 03 Jul 2022 22:14:23 (UT)
Good observing,
Elizabeth
Just saw the request and added the two stars to my observing program.
Josch
The last of the HST/ULYSSES pre-main sequence star targets has now been scheduled. Note that this target was originally scheduled in late May, but the HST acquisition failed.
Sz 114:
16 09 01.849 -39 05 12.41 (J2000) V: 14.12
Start time: 09 Jul 2022 10:32:44 End time: 09 Jul 2022 20:55:38
it would be helpful to have BVRI photometry for this target in order to help interpret the UV spectra from the HST. TESS will not be observing this region.
Please add Sz 114 to your observing lists, and observe at least once per night from early July through July 9.
Thank you for all the contributions you have made to this program to date.

Good to know that on of my favourite stars will be a target in a campaign this year. I observe it almost every clear night. Lets observe. Clears skies to everyone.
