To all observers of the Sun:

The AAVSO recently received the following request from Miho Janvier of NOC France...

Dear all,

I am organising a small solar observation campaign with amateur astronomers during the next ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter big observation campaign, taking place from 2022-10-08 until 2022-11-07.

The idea is to collect observations of the Sun taken by amateur astronomers especially in the windows: [16th October - 27th October], [1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th November]. We are coordinating with different space missions from NASA (IRIS) and JAXA (Hinode) as well as ground-based telescopes around the world (Canaries, California, Hawaii), and observations taken by amateurs can be useful in providing context when some of our observations have a small field of view and/or the weather is not collaborating.

I have prepared an explanation page with all the details of the campaign here: https://spice.ias.u-psud.fr/operations/proam
