Hello everyone.

I've been having my connexion to the FTP server shut down repeatedly today. I can't download more than one or just a few files before the server interrupts the connexion.

Is it a common issue? Is the server swamped by too many requests?

Thanks,

Ari

Ari,

Sorry to hear you are having problems.

I have not heard of any issues.  When I saw your post I gave it a try and downloaded all your gam_Cir images - 40 of them.  They all came down in one go without a problem.

I looked at the log the FTP server generates.  I see this message a number of times:

2023-02-26 09:30:09,912 occam.aavso.org proftpd[371785] occam (191.187.11.144[191.187.11.144]): FTP no transfer timeout, disconnected

between 0930: and 1100 EST (UTC 1430 and 1600).  I do not see any other users of the FTP server today save my testing.

Has anything changed recently with your computer or network?

best regards,

Cliff

Ari:

BTW, why are you downloading these images from the FTP site.

They should exist in your VPhot account?

Ken

PS: Just for practice? Trying to analyze them locally? Are you using an FTP client like FileZilla?  Browsers have a hard time with ftp now that many browsers do not support ftp transfers.

Ken:

I was downloading them…

Ken:

I was downloading them because I am aware that the images won't stay in VPHOT after some time in order to save resources.

Yes, I was using my browser to download the images and it worked already until yesterday. It was only today that the connection was interrupted at every attempt to download the latest images. From now on I will use an FTP client such as Filezilla.

Thanks.

Ari
