Alert Notice 625: ASASSN-18ey = MAXI J1820+070 coverage needed for VLT and XMM

March 21, 2018: Dr. Tom Maccarone (Texas Tech University) has requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the outbursting black hole X-ray binary ASASSN-18ey = MAXI J1820+070 in support of VLT and XMM observations scheduled for:

2018 22 March 08-09:30 UT  and  29 March 08-09:30 UT

V time series are requested, with as short a cadence as possible (ideally, a time resolution of 0.1 second or better).

Alert Notice 623: Observations of V1017 Sgr requested

March 16, 2018: Dr. Jennifer Sokoloski (Columbia University) and colleagues (led by Dr. Koji Mukai, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center) have requested AAVSO assistance in observing the nova/dwarf nova V1017 Sgr in preparation for an XMM-Newton observation scheduled for 2018 March 23 or 24.

Confirmation that the system is not in dwarf-nova outburst as of March 23 is needed so that the XMM observation may take place.

Alert Notice 570: NR TrA (Nova TrA 2008) monitoring in support of XMM observations

March 7, 2017 : Dr. Fred Walter (Stony Brook University) has requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring NR TrA (Nova TrA 2008) in support of upcoming XMM Newton observations. The XMM observations will take place 2017 March 13 06:21 through March 14 10:34 UT.

Alert Notice 548: AR Sco observing campaign

August 18, 2016: Dr. Thomas Marsh (University of Warwick) and colleagues have requested AAVSO coverage of the intriguing binary AR Sco in support of upcoming Newton-XMM observations.

The XMM observations of AR Sco have been scheduled for:
2016 September 10 15:41 - September 11 02:26 UT

Alert Notice 546: Campaign on V1687 Cyg (WR 140)

Campaign continued through 2017. Also, updated in Special Notice #419 (20160809) to encourage spectroscopy. 

August 3, 2016: Dr. Noel Richardson (University of Toledo) and colleagues have requested AAVSO assistance in optical monitoring of the bright, colliding-winds binary V1687 Cyg (WR 140, HD 193793) as part of their multi-wavelength campaign on this system.
