V1117 Her-Ist involvement with an AAVSO Campaign-V1117 Her

I have just begun doing photometric observation and the canpaign fro V1117 Her fading is my first also. Because of where I live i am using iTelescope to do my imaging. I got an image of V1117  last night (10/22?2021) and I used VPhot to to the data reduction, a 17" Planewave scope with a V filter. I was a single 240 s image. I arrived at a magnitude of 13.350 at 2021-10-23 01:33:00. Lst night was clouded out and I will check tonight. Because of costs (about $15/image) I need to be selective in my targets-perhaps working with a campaign wight be a good start.

V1117 Her - Observing Styles

This is an excellent example of how different observation programs come together.

I have 59 YSOS in my DSLR program. One night’s images will take me a week to process, analyze and post results. I’m too busy to provide the coverage the campaign needs.

Looking at the light curve, you can see that this is really Filipp’s star. He’s accumulated an incredibly complete dataset, AND has multiple wavelength observations of the event I was just lucky enough to catch on my first observation of the star this year.

Both of us are locked in to our routines. Your ability to respond and observe when needed is just as critical and I encourage you to continue. With the expense involved, you should probably review the light curve and consult with Mike Poxon to plan your run.

Thanks to all involved!
